Tumblr Makes Me Dream about Cumberbatch

I keep having dreams about Benedict Cumberbatch. I blame you.

They’re not even very interesting dreams. I have had three of them recently: two involved simply the revelation that poor Cumberbatch has a terrible (TERRIBLE) acne problem. Horrific. In those dreams, I’m shocked at how the tv people are able to hide that so well. Amazing.

In the third one Cumberbatch and his family (and his ex-girlfriend) go on a trip to North Carolina and for some reason I am also there. His ex-girlfriend does a tremendous amount of shopping and tries to carry about 10 big bags while walking down the street. I felt compelled to help her carry these bags, because, you know, I’m not a jerk. They are very heavy. I am annoyed, and the paper handles cut into my fingers. Cumberbatch is in a kayak and paddles through the streets alongside us, because this is a dream and logic doesn’t apply. I spend this dream kind of annoyed at him. Why does he get to kayak while I have to carry his ex-girlfriend’s bags? Couldn’t he have chosen a canoe or something and transported some of this crap? Perhaps a wide-bottomed motor boat? Did I mention how heavy these bags are? Honestly. How is this fair? What the hell is in these bags, anyway?

I also spent most of that dream looking around and recognizing places and buildings and shouting I HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE! I HAVE SEEN THIS! I RECOGNIZE THAT! ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?

I really need to stop checking tumblr before bed.

What I see here is a nose with attitude. That’s a nose that wants to do a graduate degree. It’s a nose that has very specific taste in suits. A nose that listens to the news and votes. His is a nose that has written its own personal mission statement. Benedict Cumberbatch has a nose of destiny. One day it may run for office. And win.
